Project Carry On Organized for Second Year
The Marshall County FRN, through a sponsorship by Chevron, organized project Carry On for the second time on June 6, 2016. Project Carry On seeks to provide children entering placement with basic essentials and comfort items to help ease the transition process. When children are removed from the home, at times, they may not have an opportunity to take personal belongings with them, or they may not have many personal belongings to take. The FRN obtained personal hygiene, clothing, and comfort items for children ages infant to teens and placed them into book bags for ease of transport. Having personal belongings can help promote a sense of safety and security, particularly for children going through the removal and placement process. Overall, 32 book bags were assembled and given to the local DHHR office to be given to children who are in need of such items. The overall goal of this project is to provide children who are in contact with DHHR with additional supports that will help mitigate any negative factors that these children are experiencing. The FRN understands the important role that childhood experiences play in healthy development, and wants to support the healthy development of children in Marshall County.
