Fatherhood Engagement at Ballin’ with Dad
In September, the Marshall County FRN & Family Support Center (FSC) hosted our first fatherhood engagement event called “Ballin’ with Dad.” Attendees were provided a basketball or soccer ball, pizza, drinks, and the opportunity to participate in a scavenger hunt in the park. The winner of the scavenger hunt received a free Dunkin’ gift card! We had 17 adults and 49 children attend our free event designed to foster engagement between fathers and their children.
Each month the FSC offers, or participates in, a free guardian-child event. These events encourage child-guardian interaction in a fun, low pressure environment. They strengthen family relationships and offer a bonding experience with limited barriers for family’s attendance. Quarterly, we plan to host one of our guardian-child events with a focus on father-child interaction to highlight the role and importance of dads in the family structure. If you are a dad and have suggestions for future events, please feel free to contact us here: Contact – Marshall County FRN.
