Healthy Classroom Essentials Project Continues for Third Year

Every school year, a significant number of students miss days of school and important classroom time due to head lice. In order to help mitigate the effects of this, the Marshall County FRN worked to put together Healthy Classroom Essentials kits containing information and tools that area schools can use for lice prevention and treatment, offering traditional and alternative measures for each. This is the third consecutive year in which the project has been organized because head lice continues to be an issue many families face. The goal of the Healthy Classroom Essentials Project is to assist families in breaking down barriers to helping children learn. Thirty-two lice kits were given to the Marshall County School Administration on October 5th to be distributed to Marshall County schools and the Parent Educator Resource Center which will then be distributed to families in need of these items. The lice kits included lice treatment shampoo, a prevention and treatment guide, an alternative treatment and prevention guide, 2 black garbage bags, and a Marshall County FRN Resource Guide. In addition to the lice kits, each school received 3 boxes of tissues and a large bottle of hand sanitizer.
