Community Development

The Marshall County Family Resource Network is currently developing plans to help our community grow and prosper.  A local steering committee has been formed to assist in the efforts by building capacity in Economic, Community, Organization, Leadership and Human Development.  In May 2008, a Marshall County Community Profile was completed.  The community profile was provided for use by local groups working to improve local community conditions in order to provide a general overview of some of the more relevant measures of community capacity within Marshall County.  It is only one of many tools local planning and development groups may find useful.  An additional report on the findings from a capacity survey completed by residents of Marshall County has also been provided to supplement this statistical profile.  To download a copy of the community profile and capacity survey results click on links below.

Community Development is an ongoing process and will not be achieved by a single project or program.    This effort is a community-driven process and the Marshall County Family Resource Network would like to invite those interested to invest in this county-wide community development effort. 

The Marshall County FRN and the Marshall County Commission were recently featured on WTRF 7 for hosting the "Power of 32" Community Conversation. "Power of 32" is a regional visioning initiative that will involve tens of thousands of people across 32 counties in Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia in creating a shared vision for the region’s future.

Through Power of 32, we can think differently about our region’s challenges—our role in the global economy, our quality of life, and our opportunities, and act in ways that set a new direction for the future. To see the 7 News story click here.
