Winter Carnival 2009

On Dec. 31, 2009, residents from across the Ohio Valley will ring in the New Year at the second annual Marshall County Winter Carnival. The event will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Jefferson Avenue in downtown Moundsville, WV. Featuring music, children's entertainers, inflatable rides, costumed characters, wood carvers and more, the carnival will provide a fun, alcohol-free atmosphere in which families can celebrate the holidays.

You can pick up a coupon, good for one free ticket to the Marshall County Winter Carnival, at local WesBanco Bank branches with every Wendy's Old-Fashioned Hamburgers Combo Meal from Dec. 17-Dec. 31, or at other locations throughout Marshall County. You can also download a coupon here. Be sure to save the coupons and redeem them at the Winter Carnival; there's no limit to the amount of coupons you can collect and redeem.
Wendy's Winter Blast
This year, there will be something big to kick off the Marshall County Winter Carnival: The Wendy's Winter Blast Kids' Fun Run. The fun run is a 100-yard dash open to children ages 9 and under. The entry fee is $10 per child. Find a registration form here.
WesBanco Winter Wonderland
Children of all ages will delight in the WesBanco Winter Wonderland children's entertainment. Strolling Jefferson Avenue will be Magician Ray, 2007 Pittsburgh Magician of the Year, and Bob the Juggler, who will amaze you with his skills in juggling, unicycling and stilt walking. The fun will also include a caricature artist, a balloon artist and face painter plus children's inflatable rides.

There will also be a "We're Holden Puppets" show at the Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library, a disc jockey, wood carvers, a Native American craft activity table from the Grave Creek Mound, a photo booth and special appearance from "Spike" of the Wheeling Nailers and "Wendy" from Wendy's Old-Fashioned Hamburgers. The West Virginia Penitentiary and Marx Toy Museum will be open for tours for free or at a discounted rate.
